The next morning the landlord discovered a large hole in the top of his head.

"Humm...a hole, and it's empty. No wonder I felt light-headed last night."

He had never once seen a doctor, or a barber, or a tree trimmer, and he was not about to start now. So he went around collecting rent with a large hole in the top of his head.

The rains of summer soon filled the hole with water.

"Water in my head!" said the landlord. "Bah! Puddles are only good for children and mosquitoes! Now I'll have to sleep sitting up. And if I don't, there'll be puddles all over my bed. Troubles, troubles, troubles. Bah!"
